FUN Weekend

Anyone who has a new baby knows those first few weeks are tough. For us, it's mostly because of the sleep deprivation, and being a little housebound with a new babe (which means housebound with a two year old too!). Getting out in the winter is even tougher - we've been trying to keep her out of the RSV season (icky sickness that babies can get - in adults and older kids, it's just a cold, but in babies it's a lot worse!), and have tried to keep Max healthy too so that he doesn't pass anything to her while she's so little. And, we've made it work - we've traded off on who stays home with the babe while the other goes with Max to church, and my mom and sister have been great about coming over to help while I run a quick errand here and there, or take Max out (he gets stir crazy just being home!). But, this weekend, we finally started to get out a little (not a lot), but a little more.

My mom and I took the kiddos to Discovery Gateway on Friday and Max had a BLAST. Here are a couple photos. He loved the exhibits - especially the kid size construction crane, and the fun water play area. The first photo is him playing with the balls and the vacuum-like tubes. He even ran around and tried to clean up all the balls that had fallen on the floor for everyone. Even though it's at a new location from when I was little, it was so fun to see what he loved - some things are exactly the same (like the grocery store!). Thanks mom for a fun afternoon!!
On Saturday Mike and I went on a date (yea!) to the movies and saw Slum Dog Millionaire. Good flick, and FUN to get out with the hubby. Thanks for setting it up babe! And thanks to Mike's parents for watching the kids! On top of planning our date, Mike managed to clean the whole house for me, go grocery shopping and still had time for his morning bike ride (in 18 degree weather)! I'm a lucky girl.

And, we topped off the weekend with the Superbowl. Max was so excited to go to his cousin Ava's house and play with her. They went crazy together and had a blast - all their screaming and laughter managed to wake up the babies, but I know Max slept well last night - hopefully Ava did too! Thanks Rach and Mike for the fun night!

Anytime, it was fun to see you guys, it had been way too long. The kids played so cute, hopefully it continues. I was so glad to finally see Alex, she is so darn cute. We'll have to make more bracelets for her, they looked so cute on. That discovery placed looked fun, maybe sometime we'll have to take Max and Ava there. What was the name of that book you just finished reading?
