I look at this photo and I can't believe how quickly he went from toddler to boy. His language skills have been fascinating to listen to over the past 6 months. Maybe it was all the years I spent editing letters when I worked with Majerus coupled with all the time I spent proofing copy in advertising that make me overly interested in sentence structure, but I enjoy hearing this develop more than his first words (well, almost...) So, more for my sake, I wanted to get a few of these in writing before they are long forgotten! Here are some recent favs:
"Hmm...let me think about that."
"Last year" for anything that happens in the past (yesterday, last week)
"Goed" in place of went - he's using the -ed verb rule
"You and me" in place of us
"I can't want it" is probably one of his favorites!
"Get summer" For anything in the future. Although, he has begun to figure out seasons and weather lately, so now it's pretty much anything he can do when it's warmer...
"I'm almost ready."
"Don't say that." He will say this one anytime he hears a word he doesn't know. Until you define it for him, he'll keep telling you not to say it. And, he'll use that when he hears a word he knows he shouldn't say (right now, that's stupid...) He also said this last week when Mike was out of town fishing. They were on the phone on day 2 of the 7 day trip and Mike said "see you soon!" I had just explained the days that Mike would be gone to Max just before he was on the phone. So, funny enough, Max responded back to him, "don't say that!" because he knew it wasn't going to be soon!
"come!" "sit!" "hush, kerm! (when he's barking)" and basically all the dog commands. It's pretty funny when he's standing on our front porch shouting these out to our dog.
"mama's a princess!" When he saw me all dressed up last week on my way to one of my best friends' weddings. That one made my heart melt. He's a sweet boy.
And, here's a couple pics of Alexis. I have to say I am so grateful and happy to have such a sweet, cute, calm and happy baby. She's started to laugh and it's the cutest squeak/giggle - hopefully I'll capture it on video soon.

Every morning, one of the first things Max wants to do his hold his sis.

Max looks so old in that first picture! He already looks so much more grown up from when we saw him a month and a half ago! :)
He's not little Max anymore. I was stunned to see how much more he was talking, and it wasn't that long since I had last seen him. They grow way too fast. Before you know it Alexis will be crawling. It will be funny when Ava starts talking better, her and Max and have little conversations! Your kids are darling, but I always tell you that. Hopefully the weather will be better next week, when I have a few days off. I'll call.
