Living between the country and the city definitely has its perks. And, since we're actually closer to the "country" side of things, Mike has really been able to get out and do some fabulous road riding with zero traffic, or stoplights for that matter.
This lovely country has about a gazillion corn and soybean fields and some apple orchards. We headed over to one during prime strawberry season and had our fill of picking beautiful, fresh strawberries!
Wasn't sure how the kids would enjoy picking strawberries, as Alexis' attention span can sometimes last, oh, 2 minutes. But, we were pleasantly surprised. Max even leaned over to me mid-picking and said, "mom, being a farmer is so cool. Is this what they always get to do?"
We then had our fill of strawberries and I managed to crank out some yummy freezer jam.
Yum. I think we'll make this one a tradition.
