Just prior to swimming, we finished up some last minute shopping. While they have their moments, these two really are buddies.

Before leaving town, the kids were able to open one gift early. Max's was a new board game and he LOVED staying up late with his grandparents on their last night and playing it. While I always love the idea of having an older kid stay up late for some special one-on-one time, it really doesn't happen nearly enough. I'm a huge routine person, coupled with just feeling beat by the end of a long day (and the knowledge that the next day starts right up), and am ready for the transition to happen into bedtime without kids still awake. But, remembering how much he loved every minute of this, reminds me how important it is for those kiddos to have separate experiences at separate times in their different chapters of life. With that, I make a commitment to do this more often (than not), with our guy who is growing all too fast!
