Grandparents

Mike's parents drove out for a visit and surprised the kids with a knock on the door.  We'd put the kids to bed (Max was still up - of course).  We told him one of his friends had come over and he needed to come down to tell them it was too late to play.  He comes leaping down and was so surprised to open the door to his grandparents!  Alexis had actually fallen asleep, but awoke from the noise, and her half-awake half-asleep body gave them big hugs.

The weather on their first day was beautiful, and they practiced important things with the kids in our backyard:  football kick off, and making noise with plastic bottles.

We went on some fun adventures, including an animal safari (where I heard an elk calling for the first time!):

Alexis chose to take them to an air and space museum (she says it is one of her favorite places):

Tayler successfully communicated her opinion by going "boneless" and throwing one of her best tantrums to date.  Maybe because it is my third, I actually stopped to take a picture of it all rather than trying to make sure she quieted down around everyone else.

And a great trip to the zoo.

In addition to the adventures, the kids enjoyed some lunch dates, movies, bike rides, eating out and showing all the things they like to do here.  It was a great visit!
