5 fun fitness tips for kids

When my home feels a bit like a zoo, and popping outside isn't an option, we'll opt for fun indoors.
5 tips I've found to keep it fun:
✔Move with music (Pandora!).
✔Make it a game - two piles of index cards - one with the moves and one with numbers. Draw from each pile to see how many of each move to do.
✔Use animal names and noises as much as possible.
✔Keep it short! 10 minutes for littles, and build up to 25-30 minutes using 5 minute increments over time.
✔Finish with a cool down/stretch/breathing and relaxation. Even 1-2 minutes is huge for kiddos to connect mind and body. Start at :30 seconds and build by :15 second chunks.
MINDFUL MOM TIP:  As much as the group fitness instructor in me wants to create an environment where all are following along, this is a great opportunity to allow the kiddos to take the lead.  And sometimes, that means four minds going in four directions.  But hey, they're happier with the freedom.
