When my home feels a bit like a zoo, and popping outside isn't an option, we'll opt for fun indoors.
5 tips I've found to keep it fun:
Move with music (Pandora!).
Make it a game - two piles of index cards - one with the moves and one with numbers. Draw from each pile to see how many of each move to do.
Use animal names and noises as much as possible.
Keep it short! 10 minutes for littles, and build up to 25-30 minutes using 5 minute increments over time.
Finish with a cool down/stretch/breathing and relaxation. Even 1-2 minutes is huge for kiddos to connect mind and body. Start at :30 seconds and build by :15 second chunks.
MINDFUL MOM TIP: As much as the group fitness instructor in me wants to create an environment where all are following along, this is a great opportunity to allow the kiddos to take the lead. And sometimes, that means four minds going in four directions. But hey, they're happier with the freedom.
