Maybe I’ll never know the love it takes
To make me a happy home that’s warm and safe.
And maybe I’ll never see how you pray for my every need
And wonder what more you could do for me.
But when you walk by my side,
Read me stories at night,
And teach me to trust in God’s love,
You give me a hug, maybe two,
And you say, “I love you”
Then I think you’re doing enough.
Maybe you wonder if you’re teaching me
Every good thing that I can someday be,
But all that I know of faith,
And of kindness and love and strength
I’ve by just watching you every day.
So when you stay by my side,
Hear me stories at night,
And teach me to trust in God’s love,
You give me a hug, maybe two,
And you say, “I love you”
Then I think you’re doing enough.
Someday I’ll have a home, a family,
And I’ll love them just as much as you love me.
Then maybe you’ll finally see
You have given enough for me;
A gift that will last through eternity.
So when you stay by my side,
Hear my stories at night,
And teach me to trust in God’s love,
You give me a hug, maybe two,
And you say, “I love you”
Then I think you’re more than enough.
And I’m blessed every step by your love.
After church, Mike had pre-planned a special Mother's Day lunch for me (sushi!) and our Sunday was filled with all kinds of wrapped cards, drawing and letters that just meant the world.
I planned a little 'project' that afternoon - and the kiddos painted pots. We've done this every spring for a few years, but something about painting pots we would fill with seeds and looking at these kiddos who are growing in so many amazing ways just made my mom heart want to burst.
We played Uno, chatted with grandparents on FaceTime and Mike and I wished our moms a Happy Mother's Day (gosh, we are SO GRATEFUL for technology!).
We made our traditional Sunday cookies together.
And Mike kept the tradition of saying a couple of things everyone is grateful for about 'mom' at the dinner table. Then he showed old videos of the kids and what they had said when they were younger. The whole thing just made me a ball of tears thinking about how awesome this journey is and how truly grateful I am to be a mother.
And then he managed to take this photo and it pretty much sums up how I feel about this mom gig. So, so grateful.
