It was a great day - starting with balloons in bed, and finishing with a fun bday party complete with cupcakes and ice cream. Thanks to everyone that came, and for the fun gifts. I think I've had just as much fun as Max has with the new toys.
Recently, we've had this game of asking each other about our favorite things, so I thought I'd try to include his answers in this post.
Favorite Song: Tie between Jai Ho and Die Another Day (yes, he listens to the music for my classes in the car!)
Favorite Food: watermelon (just like mom)
Favorite Animal: Shark (thanks KJ for the new Shark book)
Favorite Book: all books (that's what he told me), although if he picked one, it's probably Where the Wild Things Are
Favorite Time of Year: Summer
Favorite Thing to Do Inside: Play blocks (thanks to the gift from my parents - it's now Lincoln Logs).
Favorite Thing to Pretend: It's a tie between going to work/school (thanks to Mike's parents for the fun computer - he really thinks he's there now!) And a soldier/prince-dragon-slayer (again, thanks parents for the armor set - it's been well-used already!).

Favorite Thing to Do Outside: Ride his bike. Or if there is water, play in it.
Favorite Color: Blue
Favorite Breakfast: Waffles
Favorite Restaurant: Crownburger
Favorite Game: Hide and Seek
Favorite Thing to Do Downstairs (in our unfinished basement): Play basketball
Favorite Plant: cactus
Favorite Thing to Look for in the Car: Car Wash. He has named them all by color and can tell you what ones are closest to the destination that we're going.
Max is such a sweet boy. He loves Alexis and has been telling me lately that he really wants to play with her. Since she's still so little, he's been good at settling with her just hanging out on her tummy while we play together.
He's my detail boy. He notices every new thing in the house to if there is a bug on the wall to a burned out light bulb to what color my toe nails are. He'll even offer his opinion - from how I should wear my hair, to if he likes my shirt or not (which still makes me laugh!). He enjoys to memorize things and he'll just study the pages in his book like he's trying to soak it all in. His skills have already helped - now when we meet new people, I make sure to tell Max what their names are, because the next time we meet them, he'll remember their names quicker than me!
He really likes to laugh and to try to make us laugh. Complete with funny faces and voices. I know he gets that from his dad.
He's my little helper. He loves to vacuum, swiffer, water plants and is usually pretty good about cleaning up his toys. He loves to help with Alexis - in any way that he can.
He loves Kermit. Sometimes a little too much. But, I love seeing the two of them run around the house and chase each other, or roll on the floor together.
He loves his dad. It's so funny to watch him - he becomes Mike's shadow whenever he is home. He'll do things just like dad - park his bike in the garage the same way, pretend to carry his day planner or type on his blackberry for work and even sit or stand the same way.
His heart is so good and he's taught me so much more than I think I'll ever teach him. Happy Birthday little buddy!!
