Mike's parents really wanted to surprise Max. He knew that grandma was coming to visit him, but had been told (time and time again) that grandpa had to stay and work. I think he thought of every scenario he could to try to get grandpa in town. Finally, on the way to pick up grandma from the airport Max told me, "Mom, I wish grandpa was coming too. But I'm really happy that grandma will be here. I'm excited to show her my new shark shoes."
As expected, we picked up grandma and then I stayed at the car with Alexis while Max helped her run in and grab a magazine she'd forgotten. Max was super happy to see something much better than a magazine - grandpa!
