And, she has a point. Graduation can be excruciating. Hot. Long. Your butt goes numb from sitting for so long. Your back starts to ache. You want to fill up the graduation program with doodles, but can't because mom wants to save it for a scrapbook. I even remember being bored at my own graduation (and nodding 0ff). And then you stand still for the endless cap and gown photos in every grouping possible - one by yourself, one with the family, one just with siblings, one with friends, etc. I'm yawning just thinking about it.
Except when the word graduation and little people are joined together. Then seeing little 5 year olds dressed in mini caps and gowns is just stinkin cute. And, by nature of it involving little people, it's never really too long. Or too hot. Or too boring.
No matter how many times it has been rehearsed, the live performance always seems to drum up a surprise or two. Funny faces, quirky hand signals, and other nuances that just make the audience chuckle.
Even better is when you watch the whole thing and one of the little people is yours. Again, it's one of those parenting moments where you are so excited for them to be at the place where they are, but instantly flash back to the teeny tiny baby you held at the hospital and can't believe that in what feels like an instant they are standing so tall, ready to move onto their next chapter.
