The weekend of the 4th

We almost three weeks of nightly firework shows that we watched from our house.  I've never seen so many people light fireworks.  There are very little restrictions for residents here and they have at it!  The firework "stands" are more like small circus tents.  I can only imagine how much people spend on them!

I've always loved fireworks - but Mike and I found ourselves pretty exhausted by the time the 4th actually came.  Managing our 4 year old every night (who is terrified of them) became pretty tiresome.  But, by the time the 4th rolled around, she had warmed up a bit (by warmed up I mean she was no longer screaming with panic at the noise) and actually came outside to watch!

My birthday weekend was so fun.  I had a fun lunch with some friends where we all felt spoiled to enjoy some adult only conversation.  Mike surprised me with a fire pit and grilled up a great bday dinner, complete with homemade frozen yogurt.  We spent the evening at home (where I snuck in photos of these cute kiddos), enjoying roasted marsh mellows and of course, fireworks!

We usually head out on Sunday evenings for a walk/bike ride with the kids.  I brought my camera along for this one, and the weather/lighting was fantastic.

Here's Sis having a meltdown (I can't remember but I think she tried to jump ahead and cross the street without us.  We just look at her when she's done something wrong and she melts).  I remember laughing as I took the picture.  Even with the big frowny, sad face, she's still pushing along on her bike.   Trying wholeheartedly to catch her brother.  Such a competitor.
